This space once chronicled life with children and our Dallas adventures. Now the kids are grown, and I’m still adventuring — traveling, thinking, and writing — as I learn to trade social media scrolling for slower reflections.

What a great idea!
Madeleine received her first birthday party invitation to say these instructions: "Please have your child make a special card or picture for the birthday boy in lieu of a gift."
What a great idea! Just thought I would share...

This is a great idea! My parents used to make giving to others a part of all my birthdays.
Since my birthday is in December, my parties usually included something that incorporated community service and the holidays. I remember we often had my little guests bring mittens to hang on the library's "mitten tree" from which mittens were plucked for local shelters.
I love the mitten tree idea! We have a lot of homeless that come to Oak Lawn UMC (we serve them a meal every Sunday evening) and every year we have a big coat and hat drive. Next year, mittens!
